| In early February 2026, Research Engagement Network (REN) teams from across the South East came together to share their work, insights and learning. The Sussex REN was represented by SIS Quality Assurance & Projects Manager Vikki Gimson, and Bilingual Community Researcher Meryam Ejjia, alongside colleagues from Trust for Developing Communities.
The event showcased the diverse range of activities being undertaken by RENs, which help each other strengthen engagement approaches across the region. The Sussex REN shared updates on some of our key achievements including
The SIS presentation showcased how Community Researchers with lived experience are helping clinical and academic researchers to understand the barriers to participation for underserved communities and support more people from these communities to engage in meaningfully. The audience were very interested in the model of delivery and impact that our work has had. REN VCSE partners play a vital role in sharing information about research with underserved groups across Sussex and are looking for opportunities to talk with communities about our work.
