A family has had racist graffiti sprayed on the front of their council flat in Brighton.
The family have used our interpreting services.
They describe the terrible impact and stress of this disgusting abuse:

We stand in full solidarity with the family. Such hate crime has no place in our multicultural society.
I visited the family on behalf of SIS to offer support.
I attended alongside the local BHCC Councillor and a representative from Brighton & Hove Stand Up To Racism (BHSUTR). I am Co-Convenor of BHSUTR.
SIS arranged for one of our Farsi Interpreters to attend the meeting. This was very helpful for the family. It became apparent that there have been other incidents of racist abuse over several years.
These incidents have been reported to Sussex Police and BHCC. On no occasion has an interpreter been provided. This is unacceptable.
Our visit with an interpreter was the first time the family had a voice.
Anti-racist campaigners organised a Unity Stall in Kemptown to speak to local people about what has happened and to discuss how they can show support.
The Unity Stall was very effective and many people stopped to express their concern and to sign a card for the family.
The family now feel supported and heard: https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/24915557.kemp-town-man-subjected-racist-graffiti-supported/
SIS is committed to anti-racism. We will work to deliver solidarity and support for our beneficiaries.
