Last Tuesday we had a Volunteer celebration tea party at Community Base to mark national Volunteers Week and give a big thank you to all our volunteers – Volunteer Social Prescribers, Telephone Befrienders and our Trustees.
Our Volunteer Social Prescribers play an integral role in the running of our Social Prescribing service, talking to people about the help and support they need, linking them to specialist health and social support services and helping with making appointments, reading letters and filling in forms.

Our Volunteer Telephone Befrienders make regular phone calls to scheme members for a friendly, informal chat. Some of our scheme members can feel particularly isolated – they may have few people they can connect with, sometimes due to language and cultural barriers. Befriending can make a real difference to a person’s life by providing a positive social experience.

Our board of Trustees holds a vital role in the overall administration of SIS as a charity. Each of our Trustees brings their own particular field of experience and knowledge to the role and gives their time generously to contribute to decision making and support SIS.
A massive thank you again all of our volunteers without whom we would not be able to deliver our much-needed services to the local community!
