At SIS we are proud of our values and our work.
We look to each other for support and encouragement to deliver our vision.
Our vision is of an inclusive and diverse society where people of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds are able to live in harmony, play a full and valued role and enjoy the same rights.
The tone of much of the EU Referendum debate has been regrettable. Whichever way people voted it is not acceptable to promote racism and hatred. We will not accept it. We encourage people to report it. Look up the Safe in the city website for more information on how to get help if you are victim of, or witness a racist incident. An app was launched last year to enable people to report hate crime incidents using a smartphone.
A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person. It may be perpetrated against individuals on the basis of their race, colour, nationality, culture, language or religion.
Recommendation 12 of the MacPherson Report
Racial harassment is defined as verbal or physical violence and/or behaviour towards individuals or groups on grounds of their colour, race, ethnic or national origin, religion or culture where the aggrieved believe the aggression was racially motivated, and/or there is evidence of racial motivation. Racial harassment includes attacks on property as well as people.

At SIS, we carry an image of ourselves as a family – a multi-cultural, diverse and inclusive family. We celebrate our diversity. It makes us strong.
We wish to re-state these `family values` clearly and confidently. They will continue to guide us in everything we do. We are here for each other.
