SIS is part of a new community research partnership for Community Participatory Action Research (CPAR) to tackle health issues related to COVID-19
12 Community Researchers from across Sussex, specialising in diverse ethnic communities, will receive 45 hours of free training and mentoring in CPAR from Health Education England delivered by the Scottish Community Development Centre to
- develop their understanding of community health
- understand and apply community action research approaches
- build capacity to undertake community action research
Each researcher will then be paid for a further 34 hours of Community Research to complete a joint piece of research, on a mutually agreed topic to tackle a COVID-19 health related issue taking forward some of the issues highlighted in last year’s research about BAMER experience of Covid 19
The partnership, sponsored by NHS Sussex Health Care, brings together the organisations that produced the original research; Trust for Developing Communities, Hangelton and Knoll Project, Crawley Citizen’s Advice Bureau, and Hastings Voluntary Action.
