Last Wednesday service users speaking Farsi, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic meet with Commissioners to discuss their advocacy needs.
The conversation was part of planning for advocacy services from April 2019.
Following the Advocacy Needs Assessment Commissioners were keen to better understand the advocacy needs of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.
People worked in groups with interpreters to consider:
- What do you want an advocate to support you with?
- What do you see as important in an advocate?
- What are the barriers that stop you from accessing advocacy services?
- How could advocacy services be improved?
This adds to the voices of advocacy service users in the 3 year Evaluation of the SIS Bilingual Advocacy Project (available on request)
Thank you to everyone who collaborated so well on the day!
