On Monday 25th June, 11 of our team of Volunteer Linguists attended a training session on Universal Credit. The session was led by an excellent trainer and benefits specialist, Jayne Knights.
The aim of the training was for Volunteer Linguists to be able to help Service Users to prepare for their applications for Universal Credit. As Universal Credit is gradually taking the place of the former means-tested benefits, we are anticipating a rise in enquiries and requests for help from our Service Users. The new system is radically different from the old one and is already in place for all new applications and for those people who have a change in their circumstances.
A big thank you again to Jayne for leading a very well structured and informative session and to all the Volunteer Linguists who attended on a very hot and sunny day in Brighton!
