Sussex Interpreting Services (SIS) has launched a new practical resource, Making your service more accessible for people with language needs, bringing together a range of free tools and guidance to help organisations improve communication and engagement with diverse communities.
The resource highlights a variety of support options including:
- bilingual appointment letters in 19 languages
- translated self-referral cards available in 27 languages
- multilingual translated resource libraries
- information about Bilingual Social Prescribing
It also provides recommendations for organisations looking to improve accessibility through website translation tools, translated SMS communications, telephone interpreting, and translated service information.
It was developed as a recommendation which came out of our research into why people with language needs miss NHS appointments, read more about that here.
Designed for healthcare providers, public services, and community organisations, the resource aims to reduce language barriers, improve access to services, and support more inclusive engagement with residents across Sussex.
