SIS is very proud of the contribution volunteers make to our organisation and would like to offer them a very big THANK YOU for all their hardwork.
SIS now works with 32 formal volunteers in the Health Promotion Project, plus a further 12 volunteer linguists over the 3 years of the project. SIS’s 7 trustees have essential voluntary involvement and our Community Interpreters make regular voluntary contributions by listening to language messages, conference calling and promoting SIS events and projects.
SIS Service Users have also given up their time to help SIS by championing our work. This role involves telling their stories and the impact of SIS has had on their lives. For over 15 years, Service Users have presented at our AGMs, worked with us on profiles, journey mapping and case studies for reports and talked with quality mark assessors, commissioners and other services to represent SIS.
This year SIS was awarded the Investing in Volunteers quality mark in recognition of our work.
In 2017, SIS Volunteer Linguists won a Community and Voluntary Sector Star Award for Outstanding Volunteering Contribution.
In a recent survey, 96% of volunteers rated the support and services provided by SIS as good or excellent.
The three things that Volunteers said they liked best about SIS are….
- Organisational culture – professional, fair, ethical, compassionate, empathetic
- The people – friendly and helpful staff and colleagues
- Training Opportunities
“My experience as a Volunteer Linguist at Sussex Interpreting Services was amazing, life changing and unforgettable. I can’t find the proper words to express my gratitude for everything that happened to me since I met this extraordinary team. Thank you for teaching me about the” special” safe space creation, gentle guidance, care, respect and for sharing with me anything else I needed to know about the Health Promotion Project”
