Community Base recently invited organisations in the building to participate in a meeting with 30 Housing Officers from Brighton and Hove City Council’s Housing team.
Community Base invited participants to share information about their services to meet the Housing team’s aim: ‘to work together to improve residents’ lives’.
SIS Projects Coordinator Ben Williams gave a short presentation outlining our different services, with a focus on Interpreting and Social Prescribing; the main services through which we can help people to access Housing support.
Another three organisations also presented: Friends, Families & Travellers (FFT) , LGBT Switchboard and RISE.
Attendees heard from several Housing Managers from the Tenancy and Tenancy Sustainment teams. They gave essential information about their roles supporting council tenants.
There was time for questions and answers which was a good opportunity for the Housing Officers to find out more about the access needs of minoritised communities.
It was great to meet a large number of Housing Officers in person to promote the work which we do at SIS. Usually, our Social Prescribers liaise with the Housing department remotely so this came as a welcome opportunity.
Thanks very much to Community Base for organising this collaborative meeting.
