Sussex interpreting services is a social enterprise and registered charity based in Brighton.

We work in partnership with the NHS, local authorities and other public and third sector organisations to ensure people with language support needs have full access to public funded services.

We help over 3800 people in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex, delivering: face-to-face community interpreting • translation • bilingual advocacy • health promotion.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our staff team as a Service Coordinator.

You will join our Coordination Team at the heart of service delivery, dealing with telephone and online customer requests and liaising with freelance community interpreters and translators. This is an office-based role in a fast paced, demanding and constantly responsive environment.
We are looking for a highly organised and customer focused individual, with initiative, excellent communication and diplomacy skills, and fast and accurate data entry competency.

You will need to work closely with four other co-ordinators and must be an active team player with a can-do approach, and someone who can stimulate colleagues to work co-operatively, and problem solve together.

You will have a good understanding of the social care and health needs within culturally diverse communities, and a commitment to Sussex Interpreting Services’ vision, mission and values.

This post is based at our offices in Community Base.

Note: It is SIS policy that new employees are appointed to the bottom of the salary scale range applicable to the post.

The actual working days and hours will be Tue & Thurs 09:00 – 17:00, with the remaining 7 hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Closing date: 4pm, Friday 6th April 2018
Interview date: Tuesday 17th April 2018
