We have been working with a woman over several months. She has been supported by domestic violence charities. It is important to provide the same interpreter. Adopting this team work approach in sensitive cases makes a real difference. It is one of the ways SIS operates differently from other organisations.
The Service User started by feeling suicidal. With tremendous weekly support the situation has greatly improved. She has come a long way. The woman has more secure immigration status, housing and personal safety. She now feels `born again` and is incredibly grateful for all the support and interpreting she has received.
Our interpreter has delivered a great service. We congratulate her on her empathetic and professional interpreting – well done!
Note: We collaborate with interpreters to write these stories but remove the names of interpreters, the language used and other details to ensure confidentiality for Service Users.
