We have been supporting a Service User with regular wellbeing appointments. They have had a SIS Community Interpreter for 10 hourly sessions spread over 3 months. The same interpreter has been involved. This helps to build trust and to improve outcomes.
We received this unsolicited feedback from the practitioner:
“I would like to give some feedback regarding my recent work with SIS interpreter x. He has been so helpful, putting my client at ease and explaining cultural aspects to aid in my understanding too. If there was ever a need to speak to my client outside of what I had said he would either check to make sure that was okay first or explain what he did afterwards and why.
I felt confident that my message was being translated accurately and he had a genuine empathy for the client. This created a wonderful, trusting environment for all of us and we all felt supported.
He has been integral to the role I played in helping my client and he is a fantastic interpreter and person: I could not have done it without him!
Please can you ensure that this feedback is sent to him too, as positive feedback is always so gratefully received. I hope to work with him again soon”.

I spoke with the interpreter to thank him for his professionalism, humanity, and diligence. He said:
“It was a pleasure to work with such a kind, gentle and very professional person. She genuinely cared for her client. She is a formidable communicator.
What I noticed in the last session is of the Service User re-gained his confidence, enthusiasm, and the belief in a better future for his wife and kids. Our collaboration and team work has made a positive impact”.
