SIS would like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who have made such a massive contribution to our work.
SIS works with a fabulous group of Volunteer Linguists who deliver Social Prescribing at our regular drop-in sessions as well as at appointments at Community Base and other locations around the city.
We have just launched our new Bilingual Telephone Befriending Service matching linguists with vulnerable and isolated service users for a weekly social chat.
SIS’s trustees have an absolutely essential involvement in the running of the organisation and our Community Interpreters also help out voluntarily, listening to language messages, with conference calls and promotion of our additional services. In particular, during the COVID crisis, Community Interpreters have undertaken liaison work to ensure service users are fully informed about how to access telephone and video conferencing interpreting.
