A partnership of SIS and Together Co have been awarded a grant from Brighton and Hove City Council to provide specialist services to better support Ukrainian refugees living in the city.
The grant fund will enable SIS to provide interpreting and translation support for organisations and community groups who do not have allocated resources. It has helped to fund the development of our translated information pages in Ukrainian.
We will also be providing social prescribing support, alongside Together Co, to help Ukrainian refugees to
- understand and access UK public services
- link with specialist services to deal with specific issues such as housing, education, employment, finances
- understand correspondence, complete simple forms and make appointments
Our team are working closely with the For Ukraine community group, the city council and other groups to ensure we understand the ongoing and developing needs of this new community.
Referrals for support should be directed to Projects Coordinator Ben Williams;
- phone 01273 234016
- email ben@sussexinterpreting.org.uk
- web referral https://sussexinterpreting.org.uk/social-prescribing/
We hope that our interventions and support will help Ukrainian guests to feel welcome and integrate into our city and communities.
