A new community group has formed as a result of the hardwork of SIS Hungarian Linguist Henrietta Izso. Here the group chair – Aliz Ferencne Mate, talks about how the group came together and their plans for the future.
On a spring day, when the Covid 19 pandemic rounded on us, we pondered how to make our everyday lives more productive and delightful. There are a lot Hungarian women and families here in Brighton and the surrounding areas and during our conversation, on the internet, a new idea came up: let us establish a group of Hungarian women! We named it Together Easier.
We brainstormed better and better ideas and inspirations about what to do through this community and where we want to get to. As Hungarian women, we are well known of our openness and interest in achieving new goals.
We needed a mentor to help accomplish our ideas. This person was Henrietta Izso from SIS. With her help we contacted other organisations, Trust for Developing Communities and The Network of International Women for Brighton and Hove. We are very grateful for their assistance in making our group legally accepted. We are now officially registered, we have a constitution, and we can make plans with more confidence and ambitions.
Here you can read some of our ideas:
- we would like to know more about cultural and historical landmarks of the UK
- we want to attend more cultural events together, travel more across the country
- we would like to demonstrate Hungarian cuisine, culture and history to people from other culture
In this forum we give thanks to the United Kingdom for the possibility to start a new life here.
“Together Easier” had their inaugural AGM on 9th January 2021 and are already very active.
There is a Covid 19 presentation from BHCC Public Health on 19th March 5.30pm – 7pm via zoom, organised with help from TDC and SIS.
There are on going negotiations with Speak Up Against Cancer, and Brighton and Hove Energy Services Cooperative for further information sessions and with BHCC Healthy Lifestyles Team for a Hungarian language fitness class.
