Sussex Interpreting Services exists to enable full access, for people with language needs, to publicly funded services in order to improve health, education and overall quality of life.
NEW INTERPRETING OPTIONS
Sussex Interpreting Services (SIS) have launched a range of new interpreting options to reflect the changing needs of our service users and service providers.
As well as Face to Face Interpreting, SIS now offer Telephone Interpreting and Video Interpreting for appointments where individuals cannot meet in person.
Full details of these options can be found in the New Interpreting Options booklet.
NEW WEBSITE
SIS have also redesigned their website to make it easier to book an interpreter and contact the relevant team.
There is a new COVID-19 section providing a range of information in 26 languages including easily shared videos and audio. https://sussexinterpreting.org.uk/covid19/
There are further sections professionally translated into 17 languages providing more general health information and allowing individuals to request a linguist for an upcoming appointment. https://sussexinterpreting.org.uk/service-users/
One of SIS’s main responsibilities is improving access to services for those where language is a barrier. With this in mind, we have added a Google Translation bar at the top of every webpage allowing the user to have the website automatically translated into one of over 100 languages.
Whilst we recommend having material professionally translated, this is a simple tool that will allow many more service users to navigate our website and find the information and services they need.
